Rural people have recognized, since the early establishment of our communities, the importance of the Annual Fairs. Our Fairs not only educate and draw people together, but they have improved the quality of living and the fruits of our labours.
Our Society was responsible for building the Agriplex which houses an arena (suitable for hockey and skating in the winter and other events in the summer); banquet and meeting facilities. In 1995, an addition was added which houses the Conference Room, elevator and Ag Society Office. We purchased a new zamboni in 1998 and completed many renovations in the arena. In 1999 we renovated the Main Hall and kitchen. In 2000 purchased a new ice plant for the arena with funds from Alberta Agriculture, Leduc County, the Government of Alberta and participated in a casino with the help of Minor Hockey and Figure Skating to raise the additional funds needed. In 2001 we renovated the concession, purchased a new ice edger and installed a second hot water system. In 2002 we insulated the arena and did major repairs to the arena boards including replacing the plexiglass. Each year since projects include painting in the hall and kitchen, replacing three old furnaces with energy efficient ones, repairs to the condenser in the ice plant as well as the zamboni and purchased a portable concession. In the fall of 2005 we built a new parking lot with gravel and added a paved zamboni dumping pad. We received funds from Alberta Agriculture, Leduc County, Government of Alberta and many generous community people to assist with this project. We strive to ensure that our facilities are top rate and meet the growing needs of the Community. Currently we are striving to make the facility energy efficient. The Agriplex is home to the New Sarepta Minor Hockey, New Sarepta Play School, Tai Chi classes, Parent Link as well as other local groups. Senior Floor Curling is found weekly upstairs at the Agriplex. Our society is proud of the contribution made to the community in the past years, but attributes our success to the many VOLUNTEERS that give so generously of their time.
